Products Seized

353 types of medicinal and cosmetic products were seized in an inspection operation at a house in the Brunei Muara District that was selling products under the control of the Department of Pharmaceutical Services. The products comprise drug products that are not registered with the Brunei Darussalam Medicines Control Authority, products of which the sale is prohibited as they are contaminated with scheduled poisonous, western drugs or controlled substances under the Poisons Act 1956 and also cosmetic products sold without a Notification Acknowledgment Letter from the Ministry of Health.

The operation by the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health, was conducted following several complaints from the public on the sale of drug products without a valid license. All products were seized by the Compliance and Licensing Division. The seized products are estimated to be worth 38 thousand 8 hundred 60 dollars and 62 cents. In the operation, a local woman, aged 32, was issued a $2,000 compound for an offence under the Medicines Order 2007.
