Postponement of Sending Haj Pilgrims

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al- Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to support the Brunei Islamic Religious Council to postpone the sending of Brunei Darussalam’s Haj Pilgrims for this year’s haj season.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs in its press release yesterday informed that the support to postpone was made during the Brunei Islamic Religious Council’s meeting held on Monday, the last 5th of April. The Ministry also informed that the decision was made based on concerns over the global current state of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the release, the Government’s prohibition on performing the Haj must be complied with by all country’s citizens and residents, including those who intend to travel privately, whether from within or outside the country.
