Al-Quran is not solely to be read but should be understood and internalised because it contains a vast treasure of valuable knowledge that can only be gained by understanding lessons from its verses. Officiating at the Tadabbur al-Quran Workshop Opening Ceremony yesterday morning, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs said the result of tadabbur or understanding Al-Quran is piety and stronger faith in Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala.

The Deputy Minister said Brunei Darussalam continues to uphold the Malay Islamic Monarchy, MIB philosophy and efforts towards exalting the learning of al-Quran at all levels of education until university or other institutions of higher learning. The learning of Al-Quran is also given the highest priority by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The workshop is organised by the Faculty of Usuluddin at KUPU-SB with the cooperation of the Mosque Affairs Department. 100 participants comprising Mosque Affairs Officers nationwide are taking part in the training, while the Facilitator and trainers are members of the university college's academic staff. The workshop which continues tomorrow focusses on understanding the Verses of Surah Al-Fatihah and Lessons in Al-Quran. The participants will also learn the method of understanding Al-Quran through other short Surah and the ethics and effective methods of Tadabbur al-Quran as well as the Teaching of Tadabbur at Mosques. Also present was Awang Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
