Members of the public are now welcome to make donation through the Short Messaging Services, SMS Brunei Prihatin Fund for Orphans until the 17th of June 2023. The launching ceremony of the SMS Brunei Prihatin was held on 17th March morning, at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The SMS Brunei Prihatin is conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the Department of Community Development, JAPEM in collaboration with the Department of Radio Television Brunei, RTB, Datastream Digital Sendirian Berhad, DST, Progresif Sendirian Berhad and Imagine Sendirian Berhad.
The campaign was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The collection of donation via SMS will take place for three months and members of the public can donate via SMS by typing YATIM without space, followed by the amount to be donated, 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 50 or 100, and send to 38111 for DST and Progresif subscribers, or 39999 for Imagine subscribers.
The function coincided with the handover of donations amounting $226,058 collected from last year's SMS Brunei Prihatin. Of the figure, DST handed over a sum amounting $205,518, while Progresif presented $20,000, and Imagine handed over $540. All sums collected will be fully donated to the fund.
