To foster an interest in reading and a love of books among children, the Language and Literature Bureau, DBP established a special reading corner for Peachtree Playhouse. The opening of the reading corner was held yesterday afternoon, at the care centre in Kampung Salambigar.
The reading corner was officiated by Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary for Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The reading corner is one of the services offered by DBP in providing a collection of appropriate reading materials to fulfil the learning and development of children as a whole by achieving the children’s physical, social and intellectual. About 100 to 200 English books are available and will be changed every 3 to 6 months, according to Peachtree Playhouse’s needs and requests.
