The Dikir Maulud began to resound at mosques, surau and religious halls nationwide last night. It is held for 12 consecutive nights in conjunction with the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam on the 12th of Rabiulawal. The focal point of the Dikir Maulud opening ceremony was at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.
The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs. A talk on the greatness of Selawat was delivered by Awang Khairul Mu’az bin Haji Sibodaud, Masters of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah Religious Teaching student, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College.
