The Kuala Belait Magistrate's Court has sentenced a local and a permanent resident for an offence under the Customs Act.
39-year old, Mat Said Bin Mohd SalLEH, and Azreen Binti Mahmud, 29 years old were sentenced to $68,800 or 16 months imprisonment in default for possessing 94 cartons and 2 packs of cigarettes of various brands. The Magistrate's Court also imposed a fine of $4,700 or 4 months imprisonment in default for possessing 29 bottles of alcoholic drink of various brands. All confiscated items were seized to be destroyed.
