CALABARZON — Over 200,000 domestic workers in the Calabarzon region, encompassing Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon, are set to receive a salary increase, as announced by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, a total of 233,909 domestic workers will benefit from a PHP1,000 increase in their monthly wages, with the adjustment scheduled to take effect on February 19, following the DOLE order's publication 15 days prior.

Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-04, which was approved on January 22 and published on February 3, sets the new minimum wage rates for domestic workers. For those under live-in arrangements, the monthly minimum wage will now be PHP6,000 in cities and first-class municipalities, and PHP5,000 in other municipalities.

This wage order will impact 28 percent or 65,408 'stay-in' domestic workers among the total counted in the region. The adjustment follows the previous wage order for domestic workers in Calabarzon, issued on June 15, 2022, and implemented on July 15, 2022. The increase is part of the ongoing efforts to improve the livelihood of domestic workers within the region.
