Speaking at the online Asia Tech X Summit, the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications stressed on the requirements for other members of the society to ensure that no one is left behind in digital transformation. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof also shared on how digital transformation in ASEAN is guided by the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025. To strengthen the region's preparedness for digital transformation, policy and regulatory approaches would need to include technology neutrality, economic, social and security factors.

Yang Berhormat said technology related challenges such as digital divide, affordability, enabling infrastructures and legislation are among the important considerations needed to create a win-win situation for the Government, industry and the society in ASEAN. With the theme 'Redefining Tech for a Better Future', the summit was officiated by His Excellency Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, Singapore. In his opening remarks, His Excellency shared on the impact of COVID-19 to the global economy and how it has accelerated digital transformation in all sectors.

At the summit, Yang Berhormat also participated in a live interactive session with Her Excellency Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information, Singapore. With the theme 'Digital Transformation in ASEAN - Opportunities in the New Normal', the session was moderated by Mr Martin Soong of CNBC. At a virtual bilateral meeting with Her Excellency Josephine Teo, both parties discussed on initiatives to strengthen bilateral relations in the field of digital economy, cybersecurity, digital government and emerging technologies.
