The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, AIPA and the Freeland Organisation held an online webinar session. The session which focused on animal transmission as the main cause of COVID-19 pandemic was attended by delegations from the AIPA Parliament members and AIPA observer nations and organisations.
Representing the Legislative Council to the session was Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash’ari, member of the Legislative Council. With the theme ‘One Health Approach’, the session focused on the legal framework in wildlife poaching. Such a session is hoped to fully implement the ASEAN Cooperation on CITES and Wildlife Enforcement 2021-2025 Action Plan to support wildlife namely in preventing wildlife trade, zoonotic diseases as well as supporting best practices.
