Five hundred students from 10 schools in the country took part in the Brunei Student Solar Ambassador workshop. It was organised by Kemuda Institute Sendirian Berhad; and CIC Environmental Services Sendirian Berhad, in collaboration with the High Commission of India in Brunei Darussalam.

The workshop was officiated yesterday morning by Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Acting Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry. The workshop is a global event introduced by Indian Institute of Technology towards promoting a complete, cost-effective, reliable and sustainable solar energy access. Also present were His Excellency Ajaneesh Kumar, High Commissioner of India to the country; and Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash'ari, member of the Legislative Council.

A panel discussion held covered how members from the public, private and education sector can positively participate in using renewable energy with the aim of living a more sustainable lifestyle. Panel members comprise Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa, as the Director of Green Brunei; Daniel Wong, Managing Director of CIC Environmental Services Sendirian Berhad; Awang Abdul Matiin bin Haji Muhammad Kasim, Head of Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry and Dayang Doctor Hajah Roslynna binti Haji Rosli, Deputy Director of Tri-Ced UTB. The main objective of the workshop is to enhance the students' scientific curiosity and hands-on learning of technology particularly on solar and renewal energy.
