The National Road Safety Council (MKKJR) with the cooperation of the Blood Donation Centre at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital continued the Road Safety Week activities this afternoon with a Blood Donation Campaign. It took place at the Land Transport Department Headquarters in Beribi, Gadong. MKKJR also called on the public to pledge that Road Safety is the responsibility of all people.
The blood donors included Yang Berhormat Awang Iswandy bin Haji Ahmad, Member of the Legislative Council and the council's Ambassador. Also present were Dr Haji Supry bin Haji Awang Ladi, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, the Acting Director of Land Transport.
Apart from promoting the culture of health through blood donation, today's campaign also intended to instil the caring attitude among the public and the importance of courtesy while driving. In an interview with RTB, Yang Berhormat Awang Iswandy urged all parties to share responsibility in reducing road fatalities and injuries.
The campaign was also intended to boost the Blood Bank at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital which uses the blood in helping patients especially the victims of road accidents. The campaign was also hoped to make people aware of the importance of improving road safety in the country.
