Village residents are responsible in selecting and supporting wisely village chiefs who will be trusted in safeguarding the future generation. However, there are still some village residents who neglect the importance of voting for a new village chief, failing to participate in voting despite awareness of the responsibility. Yang BerhormatPengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman, Member of the Legislative Council who is also the Village Chief of Kampung Masjid Lama, PekanMuara, Sabun and Pelumpong stressed the matter at the ballot counting for the Village Chief of Sungai Buluh Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme (Bukit SiBanging) in MukimMentiri.

The re-voting and selection for village chief candidate was held for 3 days starting from the 21st until the 23rd of this month. The Brunei Muara District Office which carried out the house-to-house voting process has recorded 668 votes from 1,010 people registered are qualified to vote. The sole candidate, 53-year old AwangHamidun bin MohdDaud is currently working at the Ministry of Defense as a Storekeeper.
