Misuse of drugs is a global issue that needs to be tackled and the country is not exempted from facing the same issue. To create awareness on the dangers of drug misuse and promiscuity, the Narcotics Control Bureau's Temburong branch last night held a Drug Prevention Education briefing for residents of Mukim Amo.

Present was Awang Haji Bahrun bin Haji Talib, Penghulu of Mukim Amo. The briefing, held at Kampung Sibut Long House, was delivered by Awang Haji Zulhamaizi bin Haji Hamid, senior narcotics officer grade 2 from the Drug Prevention Education branch. The briefing touched in more detail on the types of drugs which can be found in the country, the negative effects towards addicts and the sentence which will be handed to offenders. Meanwhile in an interview with RTB, Awang Haji Zulhamaizi said that the Narcotics Control Bureau through the Drug Prevention Education branch will continue to hold such programmes as part of efforts to disseminate information and create awareness on the dangers of drug misuse.

The briefing ended with a "Fun Game" activity and an exhibition on the types of drugs found in Brunei Darussalam. Also attending the briefing were village chiefs under the Mukim Amo catchment area and officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau's Temburong branch.
