On the 28th of September, Sulawesi Island in Indonesia was shaken by a strong 7.5 magnitude earthquake which was followed with a tsunami. To help alleviate the burden of these victims, the Sulawesi Disaster Humanitarian Fund, TKBS has been established to allow members of the public in the country to make financial donations. The financial donation collection period will run until the 6th of January 2019.
Members of the public who wish to make donations can now do so through drop-in boxes provided at all mosques and surau nationwide. Meanwhile, drop-in boxes are also provided at banks, shopping complexes and public buildings nationwide. The fund is a show of care and deep sympathy from the citizens and residents in the country towards the plight of the earthquake and tsunami victims in Sulawesi Island.
Meanwhile, any parties wishing to set up a fund to hold charity donation can obtain a special sticker from the TKBS secretariat at the Administration and Finance Division, Level 2, Community Development Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Building in Jalan Kebangsaan during office hours. Donations can also be sent directly to the secretariat during office hours.
Members of the public can also donate online to the Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD account number 00001010076007.
Aside from the drop-in boxes provided, the SMS Brunei Prihatin Sulawesi Disaster Humanitarian Fund, TKBS has also been launched as part of efforts to provide convenience to the public in making donations to the fund. The SMS Brunei Prihatin is jointly organised by DST Communications Sendirian Berhad and Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad, PCSB. The SMS collection will run until the 22nd of November. Members of the public who wish to donate can do so through SMS by typing BANTU without space followed by the amount to be donated either 1, 5, 10, 15 or 20, and send to 38111.
