The Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA continues its proactive steps in expanding its cooperative connections in academics, research, student exchange and mobility with International Higher Education Institutions by signing SEVEN Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with several universities and education institutions from overseas. The Signing ceremony took place last night during the Graduates Night commemorating UNISSA's 8th Hafl Al-Takharruj at the Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong.

Earlier, 46 excellent graduates received medal and book awards for their outstanding achievements in their respective programme or course. The medal and book awards were presented by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, the Minister of Education. This year for the first time since UNISSA's one decade of establishment, the Pro-Chancellor medal was awarded to Awang Mohammad Adika Yusra bin Mohammad Yusof, a Bachelor of Science in Islamic Finance graduate for fulfilling the criteria set by the university. Also in attendance was Datin Seri Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, the Deputy Minister of Education.

The function coincided with the signing of MoU between UNISSA and 7 overseas universities and institutions. The Signing Ceremony was witnessed by the Minister of Education. Signing on behalf of UNISSA was Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the university's Rector. Meanwhile, the overseas education institutions namely Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia; Islamic University of Kushtia from Bangladesh; Shendi University from Sudan; Dili University from Timor Leste; and from Indonesia, Universitas Islam Negeri Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi; Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Hasan Jufri Bawean; and Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Darunnajah were represented by their respective representatives. The signing of the MoU's is in line with UNISSA's effort to promote the institution as an excellent Islamic University in the country, raise its reputation and position in the academic world and fulfil its goal to forge cooperation in the academic field.
