Her Excellency Hajah Masurai binti Haji Masri, Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner to Bangladesh has handed over Brunei Darussalam's humanitarian aid for the Malaysian Field Hospital in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. The aid was handed to the Honourable Tuan Haji Mohamad bin Sabu, Minister of Defence of Malaysia during a visit to the Field Hospital, made in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Brunei Darussalam has contributed 2 units of water filtration plant and a 60 Kilovolt Ampere power generator to deliver clean water to the Field Hospital.

The Field Hospital at Cox's Bazar was set up by the Government of Malaysia near the refugee camps in Kutupalong and Balukhali areas, and had commenced its operations on the 3rd of December 2017. The hospital is fully-equipped with medical facilities that are comparable to those in specialist hospitals.

Brunei Darussalam's contributions to the Malaysian Field Hospital underscore the calls by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in providing humanitarian assistance to the affected communities in Cox's Bazar. This contribution is also a testament to the close bilateral defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding of Defence Cooperation in the year 1992.
