Muslim in the country will celebrate the 1st of Ramadan 1439 Hijrah on Thursday, 17th of May 2018. The matter was explained by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as the President of the Islamic Religious Council, MUIB after receiving the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam which was held at the Meeting Room of Minister of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Also present were the members of MUIB, Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Doctor Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health; Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syarie Judge as well as Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs as the Vice President of MUIB.
The ceremony began with reading of Al-Quran verses by Haji Awang Muhammad Fikri bin Haji Awang Metussin, champion Qari for the final of the National Al-Quran reading musabaqah for adult followed by the recitation of tahlil and doa arwah as well as a mass Maghrib prayer.
