Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, in the motion of vote of thanks explained that the I-Usahawan Programme initiative pioneered by the Department of Energy in the Prime Minister's Office for the Oil and Gas as well as Electricity Sectors provides opportunities for local entrepreneurs to compete for contracts as well as open up job opportunities for locals.
Yang Berhormat said 23 contracts have been awarded to 32 youth entrepreneurs with the overall contract value at some 30 million dollars and has opened up job opportunities to 360 locals. Yang Berhormat added the programme is hoped to produce youth entrepreneurs who are highly independent as well as resilient and able to broaden the dissemination of their businesses towards becoming a company that is always resilient, competitive and sustainable.
