Goodbye Ethereum: Cryptopunk #3042 Freed from Lonely Captivity

Unique Network purchases cryptopunk to showcase the value of multichain NFTs and fractionalization, plans to distribute to tens of thousands for free

AUSTIN, Texas, June 09, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today, Unique Network, an NFT infrastructure project on Polkadot, announced that it has secured Cryptopunk #3042 with the intent to fractionalize it into a hundred thousand pieces, in order to demonstrate the value of blockchain interoperability. Cryptopunks, the original pfp project that brought billions to the NFT market, have held their status as the ‘genesis’ crypto art of blockchain technology, which proved the utility of NFTs to the global economy. Yet, along with their meteoric rise in popularity came inaccessibility and unsustainability that began to plague Ethereum. Unique Network is ready to demonstrate to those fleeing Ethereum that an interoperable, sustainable, and lower cost solution for NFTs exists.

“Three years ago when we started Unique Network, it was with a vision to bring the tools needed for the worldwide mass adoption of NFTs. With this campaign, we are showing to the world new ownership models by showing them something radical and paradigm-shifting. We are taking the globally recognized Cryptopunks and democratizing access to them,” said Unique Network CEO, Alexander Mitrovich.

The fractionalization of high-value assets is common in traditional markets for things like housing, cars, and shares. This enables an investor to expose their portfolio to an expensive asset without having to own it outright, and allows for individuals to share in the risk/reward of dividing an asset that is volatile. Refungibility lowers the barrier to entry for newcomers to blockchain, who don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy into this asset class. The minimum price for a Cryptopunk today is $150,000, providing a perfect example of a digital asset that is ideal to fractionalize. This is the primary reason why Unique Network has chosen this asset, with plans to anthropomorphize the Cryptopunk into a narrative story telling device that the new owners of the fractionalized Punks can benefit from.

“Unique Network is demonstrating more than just the tech of fractionalizing an NFT, it’s also providing a blueprint for bonafide community growth for Web3. By airdropping the newly fractionalized Cryptopunk for free to whomever joins our community, we are eliminating the barrier to entry for those who want to be a part of the Cryptopunk movement. There are millions of people who identify with this trend but only 10,000 punks exist. How are they considered punk if only millionaires have access to them?” said Greg Zaitsev, CTO at Unique Network.

To learn more about this Cryptopunk’s journey, please visit Unique Network’s Telegram Group.

Chain Launches Chain Cloud

Chain Cloud product image

SAINT PAUL’S, Saint Kitts and Nevis, June 09, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Chain announced today its latest cloud blockchain infrastructure product Chain Cloud is now available in beta for developers worldwide.

“Chain Cloud is the key to simplifying access to blockchain infrastructure for developers. Chain has predominantly focused on closed-ended, permissioned blockchain infrastructure until now. We are excited to offer this product to help jump-start innovators’ work with dedicated nodes and RPC APIs available for a large number of the most popular public blockchain networks,” said Chain CEO Deepak Thapliyal.

Chain Cloud is a decentralized and distributed infrastructure protocol designed for developers to access blockchain networks on-demand. The standard RPC API makes many public blockchain networks accessible for free, empowering developers with fast, private, and secure endpoints to build at the speed of their imagination.

“By offering one of the most comprehensive RPC APIs to all these public networks for free in our standard plan, we enable broader access to blockchain technology globally, especially in emerging markets,” added Thapliyal.

Chain’s managed node services provide non-custodial blockchain infrastructure with nodes across multiple clouds globally. The Chain Cloud App dashboard empowers users to monitor and deploy nodes all through a user-friendly and secure interface. Chain Cloud users have the option of deploying Protocol nodes that are linked to Chain Protocol and are suitable for users to mine Chain’s XCN token by providing computing RPC resources to the community or Enterprise nodes which are fully dedicated nodes designed for developers to build scalable applications without worrying about blockchain and node management.

Chain Cloud supports 18 blockchain networks designed to give developers access to the world’s most popular public networks, such as Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, and more. Chain Cloud protocol updates happen seamlessly, without disrupting the applications Chain Cloud supports, so innovators can focus their time on building applications and scaling without arduous back-end updates. The distributed architecture of Chain Cloud enables developers to work with peace of mind knowing that there are multiple regions to support their applications in the event of data center downtimes.

Developers can join the beta program waitlist and learn more about Chain Cloud at chain.com/cloud. A full public version of Chain Cloud is expected to launch in early Q3.

Asda Stores Ltd Selects TrueCommerce to Manage its Business Transformation Initiative as It Separates from Walmart

COVENTRY, United Kingdom, June 09, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TrueCommerce, a leading global cloud provider of supply chain and trading partner connectivity, integration and omnichannel solutions, announced today that Asda is now using TrueCommerce’s EDI-based supplier enablement solution to manage supplier communications.

As the third-largest supermarket chain in the UK, Asda operates over 600 retail stores. The brand also offers their products online via Asda.com, which serves 98% of UK homes. To do so, Asda is supported by 37 distribution and fulfilment centres and thousands of suppliers.

In February 2021, Asda was sold by Walmart to the Issa Brothers and TDR Capital. That sale led the company to choose a new EDI provider that would support its future as a standalone business: TrueCommerce.

“TrueCommerce was part of a comprehensive RFP process and was selected on the basis of four key factors: its ability to understand and meet the Asda capability requirements, its confidence in adhering to programme timelines, its deep knowledge and expertise, and its overall commercial competitiveness,” said Jenny Hopkins, Senior Director at Asda.

As part of the agreement, TrueCommerce will implement a supplier enablement platform catering to the needs of the over 2,000 suppliers that make up Asda’s entire supplier community, with integration into the business’s SAP ERP system. As an SAP Silver Partner, TrueCommerce’s solution offers the highest level of integration and automation with the SAP system.

The solution offered by TrueCommerce features key capabilities that will enable thousands of Asda suppliers, regardless of their size or technical maturity, to easily communicate with the retailer. In addition to supporting EDI transactions, the supplier enablement platform also includes a web-EDI portal for use by non-EDI capable vendors. TrueCommerce’s platform also includes fully managed supplier onboarding and communications management for EDI-related supplier queries.

TrueCommerce’s expertise in the market and experience in managing complex supply chain communications for enterprise-grade businesses will enable a seamless transition for Asda and its supplier community. It will encourage higher rates of adoption that will, in turn, underpin the company’s ongoing supplier communication efforts.

Jenny highlighted that, “By partnering with TrueCommerce, Asda will offer a strong, stable, fully reliable and excellently managed EDI programme to our highly valued Asda suppliers, no matter how big or small they are!”

David Grosvenor, Managing Director, TrueCommerce Europe said, “I’d like to thank Jenny and the team at Asda for their cooperation in this process. Our teams at TrueCommerce are delighted to begin working with Asda and help further strengthen their business in the UK retail landscape.”

International NASH Day Highlights a Common – But Unfamiliar – Liver Disease

Global Liver Institute Convenes Communities Around the Globe Today to Reverse the Growing Trend of Fatty Liver Disease

Washington, D.C., June 08, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Global Liver Institute (GLI) calls attention to NASH by leading the 5th annual International NASH Day on June 9. The number of people with this advanced liver disease is expected to double by 2030, but #NASHday aims to prevent this growth. Join the movement to #StopNASHNow by listening in as 24 expert panelists from around the globe share the latest updates about the disease or adding to the conversation on social media (#NASHday). The movement permeates the globe through many locally-organized events to educate about, screen for, and prevent NASH.

NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis) is a serious, progressive condition in which too much fat accumulates on the liver, leading to its inflammation and injury. It is the severe form of NAFLD (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease). Modern lifestyle and dietary patterns have contributed to increased prevalence of NASH and NAFLD around the world, and it is becoming the most common cause of liver disease. Given its widespread impact and the possibility of prevention in most cases of this disease, NASH emerges as a global health priority.

“With over a hundred million people worldwide already who have NASH and several times more in the earlier stages, people have reason to know about this progressive condition and what they can do today to combat it,” shared Donna R. Cryer, president and CEO of GLI. “Collective action is imperative to be certain that individuals in each community, no matter their background or environment, are informed and equipped to prevent fatty liver disease. The momentum that we build together today must advance and sustain the global fight against NASH.”

If you didn’t know, then now you know! Even though NASH is common, it remains relatively unknown, leaving much work to be done to increase public awareness. This year, GLI and its partners join with the theme to #StopNASHNow: Even as therapies for NASH are being developed, there are many steps that people and their doctors can take today to prevent, reverse, or slow the progression of fatty liver disease. For the 25% of adults already affected worldwide, it is due time for this life-changing knowledge.

  • An estimated 1 in 4 adults around the world already has NAFLD.
  • As many as 1 in 20 people has NASH.
  • The prevalence of NAFLD is increasing among all global regions and among all ethnicities in parallel with diabetes and obesity.
  • NASH can progress to cirrhosis or liver cancer – which may necessitate a liver transplant.

“International NASH Day demonstrates the potential that is realized as all stakeholders in NASH come together worldwide,” said Jeff McIntyre, NASH Programs Director at GLI. “From in-person screenings in at-risk communities to educational materials in 16 languages to challenging conversations with researchers, providers, and patients – today the world joins to create meaningful solutions for patients at every stage of NAFLD and NASH.”

International NASH Day has garnered the endorsement of prominent organizations from around the globe: American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD); Association of Black Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists (ABGH); Asociación Latinoamericana para el Estudio del Hígado (ALEH); Associazione Italiana Studio del Fegato (AISF); Asociación Mexicana de Hepatología (AMH); Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL); Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver (CASL); Conference on Liver Disease in Africa (COLDA); European African Treatment Advocates Network (EATAN); European Fatty Liver Conference (EFLC); European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN); EU Patient-Centric Clinical Trial Platforms (EU-PEARL); Fondazione Epatocentro Ticino; Hepatology Society, Dhaka, Bangladesh; Hepatology Society of the Philippines (HSP); Indian National Association for the Study of the Liver (INASL); North American Society For Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition (NASPGHAN); Sociedad Argentina de Hepatologia (SAHE);Turkish Association for the Study of the Liver (TASL); United European Gastroenterology (UEG); World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO); and World Patients Alliance (WPA).

STACK Infrastructure Expands APAC Footprint into Australia with 124MW of Capacity across Melbourne, Canberra, and Perth

STACK Infrastructure partners with Hickory to enter the Australian data center market

Australia STACK Announcement

Australia STACK Announcement

SINGAPORE and MELBOURNE, Australia, June 08, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — STACK Infrastructure (“STACK”), the digital infrastructure partner to the world’s most innovative companies and leading global developer and operator of data centers, today announced a partnership with Hickory, a leading Australian commercial real estate developer specializing in innovative construction projects, to continue its global expansion with the development of an Australian national data center platform initially spanning three markets.

As part of this partnership, Hickory’s highly experienced data center management team led by Joel O’Halloran, Michael Gunton, and James Veness will join the STACK global platform.

STACK Australia is currently constructing a 72MW campus in the high growth hyperscale corridor of Truganina in Melbourne’s western suburbs. The facility is expected to be delivered early in 2023 and will include two 36MW buildings (currently under construction) with separate access points to accommodate multiple users with separation of security and services. In parallel, STACK Australia is expanding into two key emerging hyperscale markets, including a 28MW data center in Hume, Canberra and a 24MW single data center in Wangara, Perth. Both the Canberra and Perth projects have received development approval, and they will each break ground in the third quarter of 2022 with delivery over the second half of 2023.

All three developments are strategically located with robust access to power and network offering scalability and reliability for higher rack densities and floor loading specifications. STACK Australia’s data centers will enable hyperscalers and enterprise clients to address the evolving requirements in Australia and the APAC region more broadly.

“STACK’s expansion into Australia, building on our recent Japan development, exemplifies our focus on establishing a scalable presence in core regional markets that are strategically important to our clients,” said Pithambar (Preet) Gona, STACK’s Chief Executive Officer – APAC. “The partnership with Hickory demonstrates our ability to leverage our partnership model and expertise to the benefit of our customers while attracting leading data center talent regionally to the STACK platform.”

“Hickory is well-positioned to help concurrently develop efficient facilities across three key locations,” said Michael Argyrou, CEO of Hickory. “Partnering with STACK enables us to leverage an outstanding global operating platform and innovative capital solutions to target hyperscale customer growth in key markets.”

This milestone follows the recent announcement of STACK’s entrance to the APAC market with the opening of its Singapore regional headquarters and announcement of its first 36MW campus in Inzai, Japan. STACK plans to announce investments in other key Asia Pacific markets soon.

The transaction is subject to review by the Foreign Investment Review Board (“FIRB”) and approval by the Australian Commonwealth Treasurer under Australian foreign investment rules.
