Radio as a Medium for Disseminating Information

Radio is one of the earliest broadcasting mediums that has been used since the old days and it is still relevant today. As a recognition for its contribution and role towards in the formation of a country and nation, World Radio Day is celebrated every 13 February. In conjunction with its celebration this year, bulletin brings a report on the importance of radio as a medium for disseminating information to the community, education as well as being an entertainment platform.

The World Radio Day declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, in 2011. This year celebration carried the theme "Radio and Peace" and celebrated every year to increase public awareness of the role of radio in providing authentic and accurate information, as well as being able to entertain listeners. In Brunei Darussalam, radio history officially began on 2nd May 1957. Since then, Radio Brunei's service continues to grow into an important communication tool between the government and the people.

In this era of technology, Radio innovates with new technology as a mobile medium accessible to everyone. Along with its development, Radio also offers a variety of content and different formats and can be followed through a mobile application.
