Post: President Marcos Jr. Stresses Unity in Combating Global Warming and Climate Change

Manila – In his address at the 16th Annual Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. underscored the critical importance of unity and cooperation in addressing the challenges posed by global warming and climate change.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos Jr., in his pre-recorded video message, called upon the Climate Change Commission (CCC) to promote unity and collaboration towards building a more resilient and adaptable nation. He expressed his vision for a 'new Philippines' that is robust in facing challenges, peaceful, safe, and hopeful for a prosperous future. The President pointed out the increasing evidence of global warming and climate change impacts, including rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and biodiversity loss. He emphasized that responding to these environmental concerns requires collective action and involvement in creating solutions. The Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week, celebrated annually from November 19 to 25 under Proclamation 1667 issued in 2008, features various activities organized by the CCC to raise awareness and foster collaboration among different stakeholders. The 16th edition of this event emphasizes community collaboration and collective action in tackling climate change. The theme for this year's commemoration, 'Bayanihan para sa Klima: Bagong Bansang Matatag,' aligns with Marcos' vision of a low-carbon, climate-resilient country. The opening ceremony included representatives from national government agencies, development partners, and civil society organizations. An art exhibit titled "Stories of Resilience" also opened, showcasing photographs and poetry that capture Filipinos' resilience, hope, and inspiration in facing climate change and disasters.
