Philippines to Host 2nd National Peace Convention in Pasay City

PASAY CITY – The Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) is poised to host the 2nd National Peace Convention on April 20, 2024, at the Philippine International Convention Center. This event, focusing on peace legislation, education, and interfaith harmony, aims to build on the successes of the inaugural meeting held early last year.

According to Philippines News Agency, HWPL's Chief Branch Manager in the Philippines, the symposium will bring together leaders from various sectors, including government policy, education, religion, and the media, to discuss advancements in three key areas: legal frameworks for peace, peace education, and religious collaboration. “These initiatives are crucial for creating a sustainable foundation for peace,” Garces noted during a press briefing.

Highlights of the convention will include a keynote address by Ahod Ebrahim, Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, who will discuss the role of education and law in peacebuilding. Additionally, regions and municipalities that have endorsed HWPL’s peace efforts will be recognized.

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Z. Duterte, along with Ronald L. Adamat of the Commission on Higher Education, are scheduled to speak about national peace education efforts. Specific educational offices in Laguna, Southern Leyte, and Cotabato City will be honored for their contributions to the cause, including the development of peace education textbooks.

The convention is set to conclude with a significant Joint Agreement of Solidarity, to be signed by various religious leaders, which will underscore their unified commitment to fostering peace and encouraging interfaith dialogue.
