Manila – The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has been recognized as one of the most improved and best performing government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG). This distinction was awarded during the inaugural GOCC Governance Awards ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PCSO stood out for its remarkable accomplishments, outstanding disclosure practices, and high performance ratings. President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., in a video message, congratulated the GOCCs for their excellence and emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, and integrity in their operations. The PCSO earned a performance scorecard rating of 92.03 percent for 2022, significantly higher than its 2021 score of 56.30 percent. This score is part of the Performance Evaluation System (PES) of the GCG, which appraises GOCCs' accomplishments based on a set of performance criteria. The PCSO exceeded most of its targets, particularly in gross revenue/sales, collection efficiency, and budget utilization. The organization has been committed to rationalizing the use of charity funds, maintaining ISO certification, and ensuring timely distribution of mandatory contributions. PCSO General Manager Mel Robles expressed gratitude for the recognition and dedicated it to the hardworking staff of the PCSO. He also encouraged employees to continue striving for excellence and maintaining their commitment to excellence, efficiency, and transparency. In 2022, the PCSO exceeded its annual sales target of PHP46.1 billion by 125 percent, generating gross receipts of PHP57.51 billion from various gaming products.
