CARMEN: In a significant development for North Cotabato, the provincial government has successfully handed over infrastructure projects valued at PHP40.3 million to seven remote villages in Carmen. This move marks a pivotal step in enhancing the region's infrastructure and living conditions.

According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza and North Cotabato 3rd District Representative Ma. Alana Samantha Santos spearheaded the ceremonial turnover and ribbon-cutting on Tuesday. The event was attended by both local officials and residents of the beneficiary barangays, signifying the community's involvement and interest in these developments.

Among the key projects is the electrification of several sitios (sub-villages), including Sitio Sadaan and Dalanginan in Barangay Macabenban, costing PHP3 million; Sitio Nigan in Barangay Cadiis, valued at PHP2.7 million; and Sitio Bunuang in Kibudtungan, amounting to PHP3.6 million. The provincial government noted that these electrification projects are set to benefit close to 900 households, significantly improving their quality of life.

Additionally, the province has completed a covered court in Barangay Manili, with a budget of PHP985,000. Furthermore, kilometer-long road concreting projects have been realized in Barangay Kilala (PHP9.97 million), Barangay Kibenes (PHP9.98 million), and Barangay Katanayanan (PHP9.98 million). These infrastructure enhancements are expected to ease transportation and connectivity challenges in these areas. Honey Glen Orolan, the Sangguniang Kabataan chair of Barangay Kilala, highlighted in an interview the positive impact of the road concreting project on daily commutes, particularly for students.

The provincial government reiterated its commitment to providing necessary programs and infrastructure aimed at elevating the standard of living for its residents. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address infrastructure gaps in remote areas and improve accessibility and quality of life for the rural population of North Cotabato.
