Educators are called upon to provide a path of understanding for students and also for the community to truly recognize the difference between Western and Islamic education because in this way they will be able to maintain the awareness and aspiration of the community towards Islamic education. The State Mufti stated the matter at the Opening Ceremony of the International Seminar on Education and Social Science 2022, 22nd October morning. Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned also explained that the seminar themed ‘Pendidikan Sains Sosial dan Kemasyarakatan Pemangkin Kesejahteraan Ummah’, or Community and Social Science Education, Catalyst of Ummah Well-being is important as a platform to provide awareness to the community on the existence of social science clusters and their importance in aspects of Islamic teaching.
Yang Berhormat explained that emphasis on the Islamization of Knowledge in social science based on the Syariah Maqasid or objectives, is more significant in tackling global and local social issues, in line with the tradition of knowledge development in Islamic civilisation.
The ceremony continued with the launching of Nadi al-Qawi al-Amin, Faculty of Social Science Education and coincided with the presentation of certificates as well as souvenirs to the main papers presenters. The seminar is jointly organized by the Faculty of Social Science Education, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers Universiti College, KUPU SB and the Faculty of Education, KUPU SB.
