Mapua University Edges Out Perpetual Help 62-61, Maintains Top Position in NCAA Season 99 Men’s Basketball

SAN JUAN CITY – Mapua University managed to edge out Perpetual Help with a score of 62-61 in a closely fought game, thereby maintaining their leading position in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99 men’s basketball. The game took place at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Saturday.

According to News Releases by Philippines News Agency, Marc Cuenco played a pivotal role in Mapua’s eighth victory in nine games, scoring 13 points, which included three triples. Cuenco also registered four assists, two rebounds, and one steal. Other key contributions came from JC Recto, who scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds, and made five steals and two assists. Clint Escarmis also had a notable performance, adding 10 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, and two assists to the team’s effort. Paolo Hernandez and Warren Bonifacio chipped in eight points each, with Hernandez also pulling down 11 rebounds and making four assists.

On the other side, Perpetual Help saw significant contributions from John Abis and Christian Pagaran, each scoring 15 points. This loss has resulted in Perpetual Help falling into a tie for sixth place with San Sebastian College, each holding a 3-6 record. Mark Omega and Marcus Nitura also contributed to Perpetual’s effort, scoring eight and six points, respectively. Omega also had 10 rebounds and two steals, while Nitura had eight rebounds and five assists.

Other teams in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball standings include San Beda University, which is running second with a 6-2 record, followed by Lyceum (6-3), Jose Rizal University and Emilio Aguinaldo College (both at 5-3), and College of Saint Benilde (4-4). Arellano University and Letran College are at the bottom of the standings, each with a 1-7 record.
