Post: Four Foreign Nationals Sentenced for Immigration and Passport Act Violations

Bandar seri begawan: Four foreign nationals were recently found guilty of offences under the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, and Passport Act, Chapter 146. The court has handed down sentences ranging from months of imprisonment to corporal punishment.

According to Radio Television Brunei, a 47-year-old Bangladeshi man named Osman Gani received a sentence of four months imprisonment and three strokes of whipping. He pleaded guilty to overstaying in the country after his immigration pass had expired.

Orlando Junior Agustin Viloria, a 32-year-old from the Philippines, was sentenced to four months imprisonment. He admitted to exiting the country without passing through the control post and failing to present his passport to the on-duty immigration officer upon entry.

An Indonesian national, Mat Aedi, aged 43, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment and three strokes of whipping. He pleaded guilty to overstaying in the country and possessing forged documents that did not comply with the law.

Leksingto, aged 45, was sentenced to seven months imprisonment and three strokes of whipping. He pleaded guilty to overstaying in the country after his immigration pass had expired.
