Cotabato - Abdulrahman Kasid, a former municipal councilor from Maguindanao del Sur and a field commander of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), was fatally shot by unidentified gunmen. According to Philippines News Agency, the city police director, Kasid was targeted while walking with relatives towards his car parked in front of the EM Manor Hotel, where he had earlier attended a housing project turnover event. The attackers used assault rifles, and Kasid was declared dead on arrival at the hospital from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators found 10 empty shells from an M16 rifle at the scene. The motive and identities of the gunmen remain unknown.
