Dumping Rubbish in Public Areas

Two companies were issued with compound fines after they were found to have violated the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021, which is dumping rubbish in public areas.

Orbit Supermarket Sendirian Berhad in Kampung Penanjong, Tutong and Sabka Restaurant in Kampung Lamunin, Tutong were each issued a $500 compound fine, and ordered to settle the fine within seven days. If in default, the companies involved can be brought to court and if convicted, can be fined not less than $2,000, and not exceeding $10,000 and for the second or subsequent offences, can be imposed a fine of not less than $10,000 and not exceeding $30,000 and will be sentenced to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 12 months or both.
