DOST Invests in Enhancing Bukidnon’s Dairy Industry Through Technology and Product Development

MALAYBALAY CITY, Philippines - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in Northern Mindanao is focusing its efforts on advancing the dairy production industry in Bukidnon, aiming to elevate product quality and introduce technological innovations. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to support agricultural development and sustainability in the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, significant progress is being made in dairy processing within Malaybalay City, the provincial capital. "Ongoing product development and innovation are crucial components of this initiative, and we are preparing for a product launching event to formally introduce the enhanced dairy milk products to the market," Cabugwas stated on Friday.

Over the past year, DOST-10 has been actively involved in conducting food safety training and implementing science and technology interventions designed to foster long-term sustainability in the dairy sector. These efforts have included training for at least 64 farmer cooperatives in basic dairy product handling, identifying food safety hazards, and adhering to good manufacturing practices.

Richard Leono, Malaybalay City's Agriculture Officer-in-Charge, highlighted the importance of DOST's food safety training programs. He noted that these educational initiatives represent a crucial step toward the establishment of a modern dairy processing facility within the local government unit. The collaboration between DOST and local agricultural stakeholders aims to bolster the productivity and competitiveness of Bukidnon's dairy industry, promising a brighter future for local farmers and producers.
