BOLINAO—The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has allocated a PHP3.1 million grant to enhance the livelihood of five tourism workers' and fisherfolk associations in Bolinao.

According to Philippines News Agency, the funding will be utilized to purchase essential equipment for the associations, aiming to support their operations and improve their services.

The grant will enable the tour guide association to acquire starter kits, including lapels and hats, while the Daing (dried fish) Association and the Bolinao Fisherfolk Association will receive fishing paraphernalia. Additionally, the boat operators association is set to receive recreational water equipment such as crystal kayaks and banana boats. A significant project for the Bolinao Falls Association includes the establishment of a water refilling station to serve the community and visitors, enhancing their sustainability and self-reliance. The equipment procurement process will be facilitated by the local government unit, following a ceremonial grant award at the Bolinao municipal hall.

This initiative builds on previous support from DOLE, which provided PHP500,000 worth of equipment to buri weaving and binungey making associations last year, further contributing to the local economy and community resilience.
