Post: Davao and Manado Plan Collaborative Ventures in Key Business Sectors

DAVAO CITY: Officials from Davao City, Philippines and Manado, Indonesia are actively pursuing collaboration in four key business areas. This initiative was revealed by an executive from the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCI) during a press event on Wednesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the focus will be on agriculture, tourism, education, and information communication technology. These sectors were identified during an exploratory business mission to North Sulawesi, Indonesia, led by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) on January 4.

MinDA, in collaboration with Leading Edge Air Services Corporation (LEASCOR), sent several officers to Sulawesi using the company's 70-seater aircraft. The mission aimed to assess market conditions and explore the potential for reestablishing an air route between the cities.

Torres highlighted the commitment of both cities to create partnerships within their respective countries. She emphasized ongoing discussions about identifying leaders for these sectors and the exploration of potential opportunities.

The meeting also served as an opportunity to review past interactions and progress. Torres mentioned a previous exploratory mission to Manado, noting that subsequent follow-ups had been lacking. The current initiative seeks to build on these foundations, with optimism about future developments in Manado City and the potential implementation of business opportunities.
