Brunei Marks End of National Flag Hoisting with Ceremony in Bandar Seri Begawan

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - The ceremonial lowering of the Brunei Darussalam Giant-Sized Flag took place on the afternoon of February 25th, signaling the conclusion of the nationwide flag hoisting in celebration of Brunei's 40th National Day. The event was held in the open area of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex. Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Deputy Minister for Civil Service Governance at the Prime Minister's Office and Co-Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Committee Members, was in attendance. The flag was lowered by personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy, Military, Police, Fire and Rescue Cadets, and Alumni of the National Service Programme, accompanied by the National Anthem performed by the Royal Brunei Police Force Band. Members of the Legislative Council were also present to witness the event.

According to Radio Television Brunei, this event symbolizes the unity and national pride of Brunei Darussalam as it commemorates four decades of independence.
