Brunei darussalam: Brunei Darussalam, through its Forestry Department under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, is hosting the Experiential Learning Exchange (ELE) programme as part of the Enhancing Conservation and Restoration of Wetlands and Peatlands in ASEAN project.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the programme is organised by the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) and will run from today until April 1st in the capital. It features 40 participants, including representatives from ASEAN Member States, ACB, and relevant agencies within Brunei Darussalam.
The purpose of the programme is to establish a peer-to-peer learning platform for ASEAN countries to exchange experiences, knowledge, and best practices in the sustainable management of peatland and mangrove ecosystems. These ecosystems are crucial for biodiversity conservation and play a significant role in mitigating climate change impacts.
Additionally, a training session on the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring was held on March 28th. This training aimed to improve the capacity of relevant officers by introducing them to a global digital platform for monitoring ecosystem restoration efforts. The programme is part of a broader initiative to strengthen regional cooperation among ASEAN countries in conserving and restoring peatland and mangrove ecosystems, while promoting knowledge exchange and experience sharing among the Member States.
