Brunei COVID-19 AirLab

The Ministry of Health will increase the SARS-CoV-2 laboratory test capacity with an additional virology laboratory called the Brunei COVID-19 AirLab. The new lab was a result of cooperation between the Government and Beijing Genomic Institution, BGI.

According to the Minister of Health, the lab is a portable mobile laboratory that has a biosafety Level 2. It is currently placed at Bridex Jerudong and will start operating on the 19th of August 2021, and will be able to accommodate up to 5 thousand tests in a day. Meanwhile, to increase the capacity of vaccinating the public, another vaccination centre has been opened namely the Jubli Emas Vaccination Centre in Bunut since the 17th of August 2021. It is open from Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 8 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon. The vaccination centre will only cater to individuals who already reserved a vaccination slot. In this regard, anyone who has reserved a vaccination slot at the Jubli Emas Vaccination Centre is requested to check their respective BruHealth App to confirm the date and time of the booking. This is due to several appointments that have been amended to take into account the capacity of the vaccination centre.
