BMC Marks 15 Years of Strengthening Brunei-Japan Ties with Anniversary Celebration
Bandar seri begawan: The Brunei Methanol Company Sendirian Berhad (BMC) celebrated its 15th anniversary at The Empire Brunei, marking a significant milestone in its role in diversifying Brunei’s economy. The event highlighted the strong friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Japan, which has been bolstered by BMC’s establishment.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the celebration was attended by several distinguished guests, including Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri AWANG HAJI Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence. In his speech, Mr. Takayuki Miyamoto, Chairman of BMC, emphasized that 95 percent of BMC’s workforce consists of Bruneians.
The event also featured the signing of the Research Support and Collaboration Agreement for the BMC-UBD Industrial Scholarship. This agreement entails BMC’s commitment to funding research projects at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s Centre for Advanced Material and Energy Sciences (CAMES). Other notable attendees included Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy for Economy, and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohammad Hanifah, Deputy Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office.
