Bicol Police Confiscate Over PHP5 Million in Illegal Drugs


NAGA CITY — In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, authorities in the Bicol region have confiscated more than PHP5 million worth of shabu and marijuana during a series of anti-drug operations across Camarines Sur and Albay, as reported by the Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO5) on Wednesday.



According to Philippines News Agency, the spokesperson for PRO5, the operations led to the arrest of two high-value targets in Camarines Sur and a minor in Albay over the course of two days. A notable arrest included an individual known by the alias “Anton” from Igualdad, Naga City, who was apprehended Tuesday evening in Pili, Camarines Sur. Anton was caught in a buy-bust operation selling 29 sachets of suspected shabu, totaling 275 grams with an estimated value of PHP1,870,000, along with two grams of dried marijuana leaves valued at PHP240. Another operation in Naga City resulted in the arrest of an individual with the alias “Jao-Jao,” from whom 55 grams of shabu, valued at PHP374,000, were seized.



Additionally, in Sto. Domingo, Albay, a minor was detained after being found in possession of 415 grams of shabu worth PHP2.82 million during a buy-bust operation. The operation also resulted in the seizure of a knife and a cellular phone. The minor is currently under police custody and will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for being underage.



The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Bicol has issued a call to the public, urging vigilance to prevent children from becoming involved in illegal drug activities. The successful operations underscore the ongoing efforts to combat the distribution and use of illegal narcotics in the region.
