Post: Speaker of Legislative Council Discusses Intra-ASEAN Unity with Singapore’s Prime Minister

Singapore: The importance of unity in strengthening the intra-ASEAN mechanism, particularly concerning food security and the oil and gas supply, was a key topic during a Courtesy Call by the Speaker of the Legislative Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore. The meeting took place at the Istana, where both parties expressed appreciation for the strong and longstanding bilateral relations in areas such as the economy and defense.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib congratulated His Excellency Lawrence Wong on assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027. The Speaker also expressed gratitude to Singapore for extending medical assistance to the people of Brunei Darussalam. The meeting was attended by several Members of the Legislative Council, including Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yusuf; Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman; Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji Abdul Momin; and Yang Berhormat Awang Zainol bin Haji Mohamed.

The delegation's visit to Singapore was part of a two-day Official Visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between ASEAN legislative institutions.
