271 New Cases, 11 New Clusters Detected, 219 Cases Recovered

271 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Brunei Darussalam bringing the total number of cases to 12,384 people.

 

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated, there are 104 additional new cases to the 17 existing active clusters which are close contacts of the previous positive cases. Meanwhile, 11 new clusters were detected involving 74 cases. All the new clusters are residential clusters in which three of them, namely Sahid Sdn Bhd Cluster, Negalang Unat Site Cluster and Mashor GC Staffhouse Cluster are home clusters accomodating the company’s employees.

 

6 clusters are closed after no cases were detected for 28 days. The closed clusters are PAS (Aker), The Mall, Batu Satu Frescho, Leo Vessel Gem, 3859 and 5532. The total number of active clusters is 171 clusters. Meanwhile, 93 new cases are still under investigation to identify the source of infection. In addition 219 cases have recovered bringing the total number of recovered cases to 9 thousand 827, whereas the total active cases are 2,475 cases. Six cases are in Category 5 and are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with 3 cases the help of additional heart/lung machine ECMO. 15 cases in Category 4 require oxygen assistance and under close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, a total of 3,398 samples were tested for SARS-CoV-2 virus bringing the total lab test carried out since January 2020 to 476,929 tests.
