His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council launched the 19th Asian Games Fun Run at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital. Organised by the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council with the support of the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Olympic Council of Asia, OCA, the event aimed to promote the Asian Games that will take place in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China from the 23rd of September until the 8th of October this year.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
His Royal Highness flagged-off the run, which was joined by 900 participants. 5 categories were competed including the Differently-Abled Category.
His Royal Highness also took part in a 2-kilometre walk which began at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien and ended at Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas.
His Royal Highness then presented prizes to the winners of each category.
