Success of First-Ever Liver Transplant in Brunei Darussalam


Darussalam: Brunei Darussalam has successfully performed its first-ever liver transplant. The historic achievement in the country’s healthcare landscape was announced by Jerudong Park Medical Centre, JPMC, in a press conference, 2nd February afternoon. Dr. Meera Sahib Kabeer, Chief Medical Officer of JPMC, expressed pride in the remarkable achievement for JPMC and the country’s medical community. He explained that the expertise, precision, and dedication demonstrated by the team reflect the high standards of care they uphold.



According to Radio Television Brunei, the ground-breaking procedure conducted on 1st February 2025 involved a 35-year-old woman as a liver donor to the recipient, who is the donor’s father, aged 59. Both individuals are currently in stable condition under close medical supervision at JPMC.
