Bandar Seri Begawan: The Australian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam has launched an exhibition titled “Saksi Sejarah: 80 tahun Memperingati Operasi Oboe dalam Sejarah Brunei” at the Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja. This exhibition is dedicated to commemorating the 80th anniversary of Operasi Oboe, showcasing photographs, video recordings, and artefacts.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the exhibition was inaugurated with the presence of Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence. The exhibition, open to the public until June 15th, underscores the bravery and sacrifice of Australian and allied soldiers, as well as the resilience of the people of Brunei during the Second World War. His Excellency Michael Hoy, Australian High Commissioner, emphasized in his speech that Operasi Oboe represents a pivotal event in the history of modern relations between Australia and Brunei Darussalam. The exhibition is a collaborative effort with the Department of Museums, Brunei; the Brunei Energy Hub, Dermaga Diraja, and the Australian War Memorial.
