ROMBLON — Bonbon Beach in Romblon Province has been named one of the World's Top 50 Beaches for 2024, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT). The recognition highlights the natural beauty and serene environment of this lesser-known destination, further establishing the Philippines' reputation as a top beach locale.
According to Philippines News Agency, which also included Entalula Island in El Nido, Palawan at fourth place, Bonbon Beach is celebrated for its tranquil charm and natural features. The beach boasts a pristine sandbar extending to Bangug Island and is noted for its undeveloped landscape, fine white sand, and clear waters that are ideal for swimming. The site describes Bonbon Beach as a quiet retreat where visitors can often enjoy the beach in solitude, contrasting with more crowded tourist spots.
Entalula Island received praise for its dramatic limestone cliffs and sandy shores, surrounded by clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling near vibrant coral reefs. Meanwhile, El Nido's Hidden Beach was inducted into the recognition site's Hall of Fame, having consistently been ranked among the top global beaches.
The World's Top 50 Beaches list, published annually, is based on votes from over a thousand travel professionals who provide detailed descriptions of why each beach deserves to be recognized, ensuring a thoughtful and thorough selection process.
