Road Safety Awareness Programme

As of June this year, 970 road accidents have been recorded in which 10 of them were fatal. Meanwhile, there were 14 cases of accidents involving motorcycles; 4 cases involving bicycles; 4 for heavy machinery and 6 involving pedestrians. The statistics were shared during a briefing at the Road Safety Awareness Programme for the Government Sector, specifically for officers and staff of the Prime Minister's Office and the departments under it.

The programme was one of the initiatives under the Brunei Darussalam Road Safety Strategic Plan 2025, aiming to disseminate information and further raise awareness as well as understanding on the importance of road safety. Delivered by officers from the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications and the Land Transport Department, the briefing included road traffic rules as well as fines for failing to adhere to the said rules.
