In answering the safety issue on poison use by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Salleh Bostaman bin Haji Zainal Abidin, the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism stated that the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood has organised a number of programmes to raise awareness on the importance of safety in using agricultural chemical poisons.
The programme focuses on the correct use of chemical poisons by explaining the important elements in the poison label such as the poison class level, the content of the poison namely the active ingredient, measurement, the duration of use and harvesting period as well as the importance of using Personal Protective Equipment, PPE while carrying out chemical poison spraying. The course is held every year in all districts.
