Preserve Country’s Sovereignty

The First Meeting of the 19th Session of the Legislative Council, continued on the seventh day yesterday with the council approving the budget allocation for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs amounting over one hundred 23 million dollars. The morning session began with an introduction by the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs. In the presentation, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, among others explained the allocation requested will provide the Ministry with the capabilities to uphold foreign policies and become a facilitator and connector from the diplomatic and friendship aspects, with other countries as well as Regional and International Organisations.

Yang Berhormat said that Brunei Darussalam as a small developing country will continue to hold fast to the principles of goodwill with other countries, mutual respect and adhering to the equality of all countries as well as non-interference in the affairs of other countries, in together preserving the sovereignty and completeness of the country. Brunei Darussalam will also continue to work closely with other countries on the regional and international arenas in supporting a system based on regulations in developing mutual interests. To date, the country has fostered diplomatic relations with 170 countries.
