Post: Misamis Oriental Introduces Mindanao’s First Mobile Food Drying Technology

MISAMIS ORIENTAL - The provincial government of Misamis Oriental, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), has launched a pioneering food-drying technology project in Mindanao.

According to Philippines News Agency, Director of DOST 10 (Northern Mindanao), a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed to introduce a Mobile Modular Food Processing Facility (MMFPF) in the province, marking a significant advancement in local agricultural processing capabilities.

The initiative, named "FoodtrIP," involves the deployment of a drying module designed by the DOST Industrial Technology Development Institute and installed within a 32-foot van. This facility is unique as it complies with good manufacturing practices and is equipped to process a variety of local produce into commercial products. It is particularly aimed at addressing the surplus production of vegetables, fruits, and other crops, thereby reducing waste and increasing farmers' income potential.

The MMFPF will be accessible to farmers, cooperatives, and other producers, offering them the opportunity to utilize this state-of-the-art processing technology. The collaboration between DOST-10 and the Misamis Oriental provincial government aims to ensure the MMFPF's sustainable and effective operation, providing technical services to enhance the value of local agricultural products.

This move positions Misamis Oriental as a leader in agricultural innovation in Mindanao, with the local government and DOST-10 committed to supporting the agricultural sector through advanced technologies and practices.
