Post: La Union Residents Receive Free Services from ‘Lab for All’ Caravan

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — Approximately 6,000 residents of La Union province were the beneficiaries of the 'Lab for All' (Libreng Laboratoryo, Konsulta, at Gamot Para sa Lahat) caravan on Tuesday, receiving a range of free medical, legal, and other essential services.

According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative, spearheaded by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, is designed to make health care services more accessible to the populace.

During her visit to San Fernando City for the event, the First Lady emphasized the broader mission of the Lab for All program. "If you would notice, the Lab for All program is not just about giving medical services. It's about bringing the much-needed services," she remarked, underscoring the comprehensive approach of the initiative to community assistance.

The caravan, which took place in the towns of Bauang, Santo Tomas, Balaoan, Bacnotan from February 1 to 4, and in San Fernando City on February 6, saw participation from various government agencies. The Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, and the Public Attorney's Office were among those providing support and services to the community.

Additionally, the caravan distributed essential items and support aids, including 45 crutches (elbow and forearm), 15 foldable walkers, 50 wheelchairs, 15 canes, and 200 kits for pregnant women. Beneficiaries also received food packs and financial assistance worth up to PHP2,000.

Irene Oler, a resident of Sudipen town, expressed her gratitude for the initiative in an interview. Thanking President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the First Lady, she highlighted the significant impact of the Lab for All caravan, stating, "It helps many people who cannot afford medical services." The event underscores the government's commitment to enhancing access to health care and other vital services for its citizens.
