The session continued yesterday afternoon with more clarification on control of chemicals usage by the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence. Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof said several initiatives have been implemented by the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority, SHENA to increase awareness on safety and health at the workplace.
The Minister said in 2021, SHENA published an industry guidance note or Industries Guidance Book about the use of Personal Protective Equipment, PPE. Its contents include usage of safety equipment suitable for specific jobs such as hand gloves for chemical substances, 'trinvertor' breathing equipment and others. The note is promoted to the public through SHENA's website and social media as reference to the industry counterparts. SHENA also intends to publish more guidance to ensure a safer working environment.
